- How much is a PPAM Membership?

For just $250 per year, you get free access to ALL the benefits mentioned on this page - yes, including the 3-day convention!
- Where are seminars and the convention held?

Event locations vary, however we keep it to areas outside of Boston, including Metro West, the South Shore, inside Rt 495, and North of Boston.
- Do I have to become a member to go to the events?

Some events are limited to members-only; some are open to non-members for a fee. You can view upcoming events and non-member pricing here: PPAM Events Page. You'll see that becoming a member is a much better deal!
- Is PPAM only for professionals?

PPAM is for professional photographers as well as those who aspire to become a professional photographer. PPAM also offers a discounted membership for students.
- Do I have to be a full-time photographer? Do I have to have a photography studio?

No, being a fulltime photographer is not required. Though many of our members are full-time photographers (both with and without studio locations) many others have other fulltime jobs and run their businesses on the side.
- What is the difference between PPAM and a camera club?

Camera clubs are ideal for anyone passionate about photography, while PPAM is focused on the business of photography - including photographic skills, business education, marketing and networking.
- How many events does PPAM have during the year?

PPAM offers in-person programs and events, including at least 4 full-day programs (Quarterlies), our 3-day in-person convention (EVOLVE), mini-programs (Photopaloozas). We also have social member meetups and zoom events throughout the year.
- Do I have to live in Massachusetts?

PPAM has members from all New England states!
- What kinds of topics are covered in programs?

Topics covered vary from year to year and is influenced by member surveys and input. Past topics have included but are not limited to: building a business, financial information, pricing, workflow, off camera flash, social media and marketing, software trainings, and different genres of photography such as weddings, children and families, pets, environmental, headshots, events, boudoir, high school seniors.

The Professional Photographers Association of Massachusetts, Inc., is a 501(3)(c) non-profit corporation, registered in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts since 1984. We are run by a board of volunteers that are working photographers just like you!
